Why I started Small Business Society

I started Small Business Society because I knew I could help small business owners with their Human Resources.

After working in Human Resources for many years, I have been listening to so many small business owners across all industries struggle with work life balance and not knowing how to manage their workforce, or even where to start.

I knew I could help!

Small business owners were telling me that they were so focused on running their business, and other activities such as finance and marketing, so they didn’t have time to worry about HR, keep across legislative changes or they simply don’t know what HR is as to what they should be doing.

They were making the same mistakes and it was costing them money …

Whatever their dream life looks like, I’m here to share all my best HR tips, tools and business strategies to support others on their journey.

While each business is unique and each journey will look different, I know that starting and running a business can sometimes feel overwhelming, intimidating and downright scary – because I’ve been there. I also know that those people who decide to conquer their fears, move forward anyway, and surround themselves with people that can support them, will be incredibly grateful that they did.

I truly believe that everyone has the power to design a life, and a business, that you love and have some fun along the way.

Some facts about me:

  • I am from Blackburn South, in Eastern Melbourne and have lived in the area all of my life.
  • This is not my first business! I have been at this for a long time. Now, I enjoy simplifying HR so that the journey for other’s doesn’t need to be so hard!
  • My dream holiday location is Canada and Alaska
    As a child, I was always thinking of ways to make money, from selling fish food at the end of my driveway, to coming up with new business ventures.

Complete with my extensive experience over 15 years in human resources across strategy, recruitment, learning design, administration and facilitation, health and wellness, process improvement, systems implementation and maintenance, and business partnering, I hold a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Management and Human Resources as well as a membership with Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI). I have a keen interest in human resources, continuous improvement and business.

This all enables me to partner with all different types of small to medium business owners, business managers and managing directors to offer one on one consulting to design tailored human resources frameworks to support and guide best practice Human Resources. With my help small business owners would have more time and can focus on other areas of their business and lives.

I’m genuinely passionate about helping small businesses thrive because I believe in the incredible potential. The hard work and dedication inspires me every day, and I want to be a part of the journey toward success.
